What's Tonik? Tonik is a series of videos by Newstar Jimmy. The idea is that the viewer watches Tonik, struggles to understand it, and then rewatches it. This would be enough for most videos, but not for Tonik. The title "Tonik" is meant to have multiple meanings - "tonic", or something therapeutic; and "ToNick" which means to make sense of something complex. ##Endpoints Each video requires viewers to watch while using their phone or computer touchpad in order to move around the computer rendered environment. The camera only moves when the viewer's cursor/finger does during an active drag gesture over the screen with either input device. The contained video is a combination of 3D rendered environment and 2D video. Floors, walls, and objects in the environment can be clicked on with the cursor to reveal additional information about the world being experienced by the viewer. Once clicked on, a new window is opened containing a web page containing more content related to that object. The subject matter of these web pages ranges from philosophy, psychology, science fiction/fantasy writings and journals, and poetry journals. Although they are technically different from each other, they all have one thing in common: they have been written or created by Newstar Jimmy. Newstar Jimmy is a published poet. His poems have appeared in many fine publications, including The Journal of Artificial Reality, LitGraffix, and the Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 3. He has also written previously for HAVEN Magazine. He continues to write poetry as well as other creative works under various pseudonyms online. Some are posted anonymously or anonymously owned if they are posted under his own name. These works are all open for the public to view on Newstar Jimmy websites, blogs, and free albums on YouTube. The video series Tonik began with the first video "Tonik 1" released to New Star Jimmy's website in April 2007. The first video of the series was uploaded to Newstar Jimmy's website on June 26, 2007. Since then, he has released 18 videos in the Tonik series. The latest video in the Tonik series is titled "Tonik 14" which was released on December 1, 2017. A number of new videos have appeared since "Tonik 14" was released including Dec 1st 2017 "Newstar Jimmy & Mathis - Never Mixed A Simple Drink". Video views on New Star Jimmy's YouTube account were at 47K views by 2/2018. As of 9/2018 this number had increased to over 67K views. These works include "The Secret" and "Ascension", both novels, as well as Taelon, a poetry book. He has released many videos pertaining to these works since 2007 under the name New Star Jimmy.
